What’s happening in the garden?
The weather was crazy again that week! Two wee hours frosts down to -2C followed by very windy days (peaking at 80km/hr) with temperatures up around 30C.
The windy brought thick red dust!
Propagation:
Seeds:
Acacia decurrens Black Wattle
Acacia dealbata Silver Wattle
Albizia julibrissin Pink Silk Tree
Cajuns cajan Pigeon Pea (a re-planting coz the first lot rotted)
Rhagodia parabolica Fragrant (Mealy) Saltbush
Potting up:
I potted up some of the Tomato seedlings:
7 Roma, 11 Grosse Lisse, 11 Silvery Fir Tree, 8 Black Cherry.
Potted on 6 Felicia amelloides Variegated into bigger pots.
Planting out:
Planted out 12 Kennebec Potatoes into the Wicking bed in the Almond area. As the broad Beans are still growing in that bed and I didn’t want to disturb the soil (and the wormies) too much, I used a bulb planter to manufacture a gap in the soil and popped the potato in.
As the potatoes start to grow I will mound them up and use the bean trash as mulch later on. The beans should plus protect the newly emerging potatoes from frost too.
Cuttings/Division:
